Age - Make sure that Age is on your side. As per market sources and newspaper recruitment advertisements, SAP Recuiters usually prefer people in the age group of 28 to 35. Beyond the same, recruiters are not very keen on hiring older people for various reasons. Of course, there is no hard or fast rule for the same. But it is generally not very easy to make a switch at a later age. |
However, one should not give up but work on creatively leveraging one's age, experience and Domain Knowledge. Remember, Mr. Narayana Murthy started Infosys when he was past 40 ! Your experience should be an asset, not a liability, if leveraged properly. |
Age could be advantageous when backed by the appropriate experience and relevant knowledge. It sometimes also helps in communicating with senior managers. Since many of them equate age with maturity. It could be a liability when one is not able to extricate oneself from always trying to apply past lessons to current situations irrelevantly.
