Know-What refers to the 'What' aspects of the knowledge. " What to do ? " is a question that typically gets answered by most of us easily, once we know our work well. Know-How refers to the " How to do ? " 'Mechanics' of the job, the Process of doing the Work. The ability to systematically understand the activities, tasks and processes of the work is very important. Know-Why refers to the 'Reasoning' behind doing the work. A question to ask oneself is " Why I am doing this ? ". A Series of such " Why.... ? " questions helps in understanding the Know-Why aspects of the job. The 5-Why Technique is often used to understand Cause & Effect & carry out a Root Cause Analysis Exercise. |
