This article on the inevitable nature of Globalization was written as an Offshoring Weblog from India on a global technology knowledge sharing website. It was in response to comments made by bloggers & visitors on the perils & promises of globalization. The G-Genie Jumps Out. Of the Jar. To our dismay. A Jar of Peanut Butter, if you like. Someone equated Peanut Butter with Gross Global Product. And raised a valuable point about the Pace and Direction of Globalisation or the G-Genie as I call it. The Globalization Genie (G-Genie) spares none. It gives no warning. Like the swarms of sentinels in the movie The Matrix. Buy The Matrix DVD from the Amazon Website Imagine you are on the beach and you can see a huge tidal wave coming in towards you on the horizon. |
On the Globalization Beach, the waves come in from all directions. Much Cheaper, Faster, Better Global Competition. Even the sand that you are standing on, is more like quicksand. Fast Shifting. Never Steady. So, not only one must know how to swim, but also walk, run and perhaps float. (With Light Egos, remember ?) Geographical Boundaries are really no barriers for the G-Genie. |
There are no passport or immigration controls on the Net. Our only career firewall is how steady we can stand and how fast we can adapt to change. And persuade others around us of the same. If it means eating only a loaf of Bread without the Peanut Butter, so be it. For instance, all of us accept the fact that the age of single dimensional careers is out. I have spent hours trying to explain to technical people the need to develop non techie social skills. Some succeeded. Some did not. I sincerely hope that you and / or your organization do. Even though the G-Genie is out of our control, it's Magic Lamp is really in our own hands. And Head. With some luck, it's lamp will continue to light. And lighten our burdens. That's the power of the G-Genie. Email Us : Can we help in your Offshoring Strategies ? |
