19th June 2004. Egoless Execution. Organizations have become very very fragile. Possibly, like Fragile Floats in the Internet Sea. Unknown Global Competition lurking beneath the waters. The Internet has changed the role of Organizations to a very large extent. And will so even more drastically in the days ahead. Gone are the days when one could possibly plan years ahead in the future. The time span for Planning has reduced drastically from years to months. The Key Issue for organizations today is 'Egoless Execution'. What is 'Egoless Execution' ? I define it as 'Concrete Egoless Action Steps towards your vocalized commitments within and outside the organization'. Concrete Action Steps which are visible, not invisible. Quickly Bridging The Gap between Current Reality & Future Vision. Vocalized Commitments are past promises that have been made by you to Customers, Suppliers and Employees inside and outside your organization. Even if you have perhaps not made promises, perhaps you have raised expectations of people. Expectations which are maybe misplaced. If so, point them out. However, make sure that you communicate the same. By doing so, you will probably enhance their knowledge levels. They will remember you for the same. Be sensitive to understand and respond to People's Expectations.Every expectation built in someone's mind while dealing with your organization has to be met. How can Organizations be propelled towards flawless Egoless execution ? Separate the Ego of the Action from It's Execution. Honor every commitment made. It does not matter if honoring that commitment today is pretty painful in terms of time, money and resources. You should have thought of the same at the time of making the commitment, not today, when you have to 'Walk The Talk' and honour your commitment. Realities Of The New Organization Demand. Sorry. Command you to fulfill your past commitments. Verbal Or Written. Explicit or Implied. Or else, let your competition do it. And let it prepare your organization's grave.
